Waymo is pressing outward on two fronts. It struck a deal with Toyota to put autonomous bZ4X electric vehicles on Japanese roads starting in 2027, the pair's first joint deployment and a signal of ambitions beyond the U.S. Back home, the rollout remains more improvisational: a Waymo representative touring Raleigh this week offered Triangle residents nothing firmer than polite noncommitment about when, or whether, robotaxis might arrive.
